Lake Powell 4/30-5/3/08

We had another early start on Lake Powell. We went down with Scott and Jacie Jones and their girls. The trip was fun. The Jones' had never been to Lake Powell. I love sharing Lake Powell with others. The sights cannot be matched anywhere in the world.

On this trip we took down some new couches for the houseboat. Scott and I loaded up the old ones on some carts and headed up the docks. By the time we got to the store the workers were all over us asking what we were doing with the old couch. We told them we were getting rid of it. They practically begged if they could put it in their office. It sure saved us the trip up to the truck and then trying to get rid of them. The workers also told us they had a barge that they could use to transport the new couches to the houseboat. We met them at the courtesy dock on the ramp and loaded the couches on the barge. They dropped on off right at the door to the houseboat. What service!

The first day we were on the boat it was windy. We decided to wait for better weather to take the Jones' up to Rainbow Bridge. While we were in the slip, we decided to go take a tour of the dam with them. Our boys love the dam. They ask if we can go the visitor center and take the tour every time we go Lake Powell.

We finally had good weather to run up to Rainbow Bridge. The water was beautiful and the boat traffic was low. The trip up was a little chilly, but at least the sun was out and wind was calm. The pleasant temperature made the hike up the bridge very enjoyable. When you round that last corner and finally see the bridge, it takes your breath away. It is one of the wonders of the world.
